Big is the new tiny

Remember those tiny clutches girls would carry? There were those tiny hippie sunglasses in assorted colors. There were even tiny dogs used as a fashion accessory. But now the trend seems to be in oversized items. From purses that look more like tote bags, to sunglasses that can swallow your whole face, women are using big items to make a bold statement. Maybe it’s because girls want to look skinny so they think that drowning themselves in their clothing and accessories will make them look smaller, but it is definitely a craze that has caught on everywhere. Below we will cover some of the biggest items being seen on women today. Warning: choose your accessories sparingly because unless you have a particularly large amount of surface area, you’ll run out of room quickly.

As you can see from Fashion Week photos, our ears have been forced to become as strong as branches to hold up the weight of a fruit-sized earring. It used to just be hoops that were seen in monstrous form, but now chandelier earrings and other variations have joined the oversized family of accessories.

Under the rules of airlines, a girl could have an excessively large purse and another carry-on even though the purse alone could serve as her suitcase. Why you want to lug something that large around on a daily basis, I am not sure. However, it is absolutely more convenient to carry a large, roomy bag than an itty, bitty one; as long as you leave enough time to search through that bag to find your car keys.

Sunglasses are used to shield your eyes from the sun so logically the bigger, the better…right? If you’re concerned about the tan lines from those things maybe we could just do away with sunglasses and try sun face shields.

You know that models are tiny, so if they start calling those outfits a size 2, the rest of us are going to be shopping in the plus size section in no time. It’s good to be comfy but what are you hiding under all of those layers of material?

The Kentucky Derby and the Royal Wedding have given us a fascination with hats. Large sunhats, adorned with feathers, flowers, and bows are showing up everywhere. Yet another sun blocker turned fashion statement, hats are a hot outdoor accessory this summer.

Overall, the shift from petite to “chunky” accessories has made its way into our wardrobe. Although we may not be able to find our bodies under all that stuff, our accessories will not be something you can miss.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials

ladies golf bag accessoriesWhether you’re a seasoned golfer or just a beginner, there’s nothing like going out for a round of golf with the ladies.  Golf is an enjoyable sport for all of us no matter who you’re with or where you’re playing – friends from the neighborhood, college roommates, family members, or even colleagues from the office.

As with all things in life, preparation is key.  Packing a ladies’ golf bag is second in importance only to practicing your drives, chips, and putts.  We’ve rounded up the 6 essentials that are critical to an enjoyable and successful day on the links.

The majority of ladies’ golf bags come with 14 separate full-length compartments, one for each club. From this point, no two golf bags are the same.  Why not take advantage of all that storage space?

Golf bag designers include multiple pockets, zipper compartments, and expandable sections to enable ladies to stuff everything they need into the bag. In addition to the clubs, balls, and tees, women find it very convenient to be able to store extra gloves, clothing, towels, water and snacks. It would not be shocking to find makeup and other “ladies’ stuff” in a pocket of the bag. What lady doesn’t want to look her best on the course?  Herewith, the list of key things you’ll find in our ladies’ golf bags.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials #6 – A healthy snack

You’ll probably grab one of these at the clubhouse or from one of the carts or “halfway houses” scattered throughout the course. If you think ahead, you can avoid markup and find better prices on a sub from your local deli.  Don’t ignore the healthy stuff, though.  You’ll feel much better playing golf with a Cliff bar or banana in your system instead of a hot dog or chips.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials #5 – Tees

Tees are inexpensive enough that you can purchase a sufficient amount at the pro shop, and you’ll be glad you did when you’re on 14 and are suddenly running low. You’d rather be the one supplying the tees instead of asking others in your group for an extra.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials #4 – Divot tool

Failure to fix your divots will eventually leave the same marks on the green that you shake your head at when you first reach it. It’s simple golf Karma. Failure to fix your divot will probably end up resulting in a divot being in your way when you’re putting for an Eagle on that Par 4.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials #3 – Ball markers

You’re on the green after hitting a fantastic drive, and as you dig into your pocket to find a ball marker, you realize you left your only one at home.  You never want to be the one constantly bumming a ball marker off of your teammate, so be sure you have a few in your bag for the golf course. An easy way to remember this is to invest in a divot tool and/or hat clip that has a ball marker attached to it by magnet.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials #2 – “Water balls”

The new box of shiny Nike golf balls you just opened is certainly impressive, but it’s going to be a waste of money when you fire one into the pond on the 10th hole. While you can’t avoid hitting a bad shot every time on the course (wouldn’t that be nice?), you can avoid losing your best golf balls by keeping some “water balls” handy. A water ball is usually a golf ball that’s seen better days, often complete with scratches and permanent mud stains. Keep one in your pocket during the round, and you’ll probably find at least one instance where using it might be wise.

Ladies Golf Bag Essentials #1 – Towel

A towel is a necessity for a number of reasons. On those hot summer days, you will need it to wipe the sweat off of your face and hands before hitting that approach shot. Towels come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and designs. Don’t go too small, and don’t go to big.  Do you play on a team?  Want to sport your college logo? Go for a logo towel that lets you show your colors proudly.
